Ikeja Electric Launches Intelligent Metering Box to Combat Energy Theft

Ikeja Electric, Nigeria’s leading electricity distribution company, has launched the innovative Intelligent Metering Box (IMB) to tackle energy theft and promote a transparent and efficient energy management solution for its customers.

The Intelligent Metering Box is designed to significantly improve visibility across the distribution network, ensuring fair electricity distribution while preventing illegal energy usage that contributes to technical and commercial losses.

Currently, the IMB is operational on the Fakale Feeder and Apata Feeder, with plans underway to extend deployment to additional locations in the near future.

This initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen service reliability, improve customer confidence, and address long-standing challenges associated with energy losses in Nigeria’s electricity sector.
